Additional Details

The Aloka Difference: Kantha quilts from Aloka Home are unlike any other. You’ll know it’s an Aloka quilt by the way it feels. This quilt was shampooed multiple times then softened so it’s easy to snuggle with, never crunchy, and yet durable enough to use for upholstery.

Origin: Kurt quilt discerningly chosen by Aloka Home of Atlanta, GA for its beauty and material integrity. Quilt made, sourced and prepared in India.

Fabric: Quilted by hand 60 - 80 years ago using traditional kantha stitching. Made from repurposed sari textiles (mostly cotton). Fully reversible.

Size & Weight: 60” x 80” (approximate). The Kurt quilt is a mid-weight quilt.

Condition: This is a high-quality vintage piece that has been salvaged, shampooed, and softened. We embrace the charm of the little imperfections, texture, and tones created over time and in this creative coloring process. Pictures were taken in natural light and with limited editing to reflect the quilt’s condition.

Care: Dry clean recommended. If preferred, machine wash cold on gentle cycle and air dry.

About Aloka Home

Aloka is committed to seeking potential in existing resources to create arrestingly beautiful, well-designed products for the home. Our quilts, made from layers of saris that were hand-stitched some 60 - 80 years ago in India, are picked, one at a time, for their material integrity and design. We shampoo, soften and dye the vintage pieces in India creating a signature softness Aloka is known for. “Families” of pillows and custom cushions are cut and stitched in our Atlanta studio. Aloka is about connection and comfort. Our team — a small group of artists and textile aficionados — embraces the beauty of the quilts “as-is” and is also passionate about reenergizing them with custom and natural overdyes. We even treasure the smallest remnant and design products with them that compliment our line and express our care for the craft and planet.
