About Atelier Vero & Veronique Godbout

Founded by artist Veronique Godbout, Atelier Vero is a Rhode Island based artist studio inspired by the notion that art should be fun and functional. Here you will find playful, yet refined art, home and fashion accessories that instantly brighten any space. Artist Vero Godbout’s lively art is recognized for its vibrant palettes, bold graphic lines and uplifting subjects. She creates colorful and cheerful original art, prints, and home and fashion accessories. You can find her art in over 50 shops and art galleries across the United States and Canada. All the prints and accessories are made in the United States.

Vero’s artist statement: “I use art to record memories and stories, documenting all facets of life, from far-flung travels to the relatable every day. I create rough sketches at first after I read about the town or visit some wonderful places. I am usually getting inspired by what I see or the feeling I have when I am in a special place. After creating the sketches, I paint on canvas or wood with acrylic and ink. I am mixing the ink with the acrylic to have colored fluidity. I take a lot of time with each piece, work hard, and don’t rush through them. It is important to sit with your art for a while, take a step back and think about it.”

Vero Godbout was born and raised in Quebec, Canada, where exploring the lush forests and infinite lakes helped instill a love of nature. She studied art and graphic design, ultimately becoming a college professor in Quebec. She worked as a college professor and an academic advisor for over a decade. She left her college career in July 2009 to move to Hawaii where she met her beloved husband Marc. After residing in Montreal, Hawaii and Virginia, Vero now lives and works in Exeter, Rhode Island. She is currently a full-time artist, illustrator and instructor. She is pursuing her creative dreams of being a professional artist. She spends a good portion of her time creating art, a line of home goods and fashion accessories, teaching acrylic painting and sharing her artistic knowledge.
